HP SUM Version: 7.5.1
Note:
- HP SUM 5.3.0 introduced the capability to update IO firmware
using HP SUM on integrity servers running HP-UX 11i v3. However due to a hang issue when updating p410i SAS IO
from 5.82 to another version with HP SUM, the built-in p410i SAS IO on
BL8x0c i4 blades must continue to be updated using alternate methods (EFI
applications, ISO images, ...). All
other IO components, included in this bundle, can be updated using HP
SUM.
- If a system FW update is pending, it will be activated at
next server power off, and server can be powered on only after the
firmware activation completes. To verify if a
system FW update is pending, run the iLO3 MP “SYSREV” command and check if
the Pending column shows any version for “System FW”.
- Warning: If you reset
the system while the SFW update is pending, the server may not be able to
reboot due to a firmware mismatch between SFW and iLO. If that’s the
case, power off the server to enable the new SFW activation and then
power the server back on after activation is complete.
- While
the server is powered off, you can monitor the progress of the system
firmware activation by running the iLO3 MP “FW” command from the Command
Menu (CM).

ENHANCEMENTS
Enhancements in iLO 1.68.08 (BL8x0c i4 version
46.00)
and 1.57.07 (BL8x0c i2 version 27.00):
- Users
can now configure a security banner message to be displayed in the iLO
login screen.
- iLO
now enables users to configure an idle session timeout for web based user
interface.
- An
option is now provided in Integrity iLO3 to "Enforce AES/3DES"
ciphers for network encryption.
- Users
are now able to create a custom CSR (Certificate Signing request) and
import a third party signed SSL certificate into iLO for secure iLO webGUI
access.
Note: For more information
on these enhancements, refer to the latest HPE Integrity iLO 3 Operations
Guide.
FIXES:
Fixes in iLO
01.70.01 (BL8x0c i4 version 46.01):
- Upon A/C power cycle or insertion of BL8x0c
i4 blades (AM377A), iLO3 on newer system boards running iLO firmware
version 1.68.08 or lower would log a false fatal event CPU_VCCIO_CONFIG_FALURE,
causing the health LED to go amber until the system is powered on. This is
now fixed.
Fixes in iLO 01.68.08 (BL8x0c i4 version 46.00):
- Addressed the OpenSSL Poodle (Padding
Oracle on Downgraded Legacy Encryption) vulnerability CVE-2014-3566 in iLO. Note: SSLv3 based
connections to iLO webGUI are now disabled.
- Users can now successfully access the iLO3
GUI using firefox version 23 or above.
- iLO will now allow two simultaneous telnet
connection attempts and five simultaneous SSH connection attempts.
- A Telnet session to iLO would rarely hang
during an operation such as FPL dump where continuous stream of data
was being sent by iLO to the client. This is now fixed.
- Fixed an issue where system firmware would
occasionally de-configure one or more DIMMs reporting DIMM SPD
Checksum errors due to a timeout during AC power cycle of the system.
- Disabled export cipher encryption in iLO3.
Fixes in SFW 02.63 (BL8x0c i4 version 46.00):
- In an HPE Virtual Machine (HPVM)
environment, the OS would rarely fail to capture CMC and MCA error logs.
This is now fixed.
- A server containing a PCI card which does
not support PCI extended capability would sometimes hang without
any error message while handling an MCA. This is now fixed.
Fixes in iLO 1.57.07 (BL8x0c i2 version 27.00):
- Addressed the OpenSSL Poodle (Padding
Oracle on Downgraded Legacy Encryption) vulnerability CVE-2014-3566 in iLO. Note: SSLv3 based
connections to iLO webGUI are now disabled.
- Users can now successfully access the iLO3
GUI using Firefox version 23 or above.
- iLO will now allow two simultaneous telnet
connection attempts and five simultaneous SSH connection attempts.
- Fixed an issue where system firmware would
occasionally de-configure one or more DIMMs reporting DIMM SPD Checksum
errors due to a timeout during AC power cycle of the system.
- Disabled export cipher encryption in iLO3.
Fixes in SFW 1.98 (BL8x0c i2 version 27.00):
- In
an HPE Virtual Machine (HPVM) environment, the OS would rarely fail to
capture CMC and MCA error logs. This is now fixed.
PREREQUISITES:
- HPE CloudSystem Matrix 7.5.1 requires
OA version 4.50 and VC component version 4.45
for HPE Integrity BL860c/BL870c/BL890c i2 and BL860c/BL870c/BL890c i4
servers.
- NOTE: OA version 4.50 will act as
a bridge release for customers who want to upgrade from
versions prior to 4.50 to versions expected after version 4.50. Hence, customers are expected to
update to OA 4.50 before they upgrade to future OA recipes.
- The VC firmware can be updated using the
HP SUM version included in this bundle. It can also be updated using the
Virtual Connect Support Utility (VCSU). VCSU version 1.11.1 or later
is required. The VCSU utility is not included in this bundle and may be
found on the HPE Support & Drivers web site.
- iLO-3 MP(s) must be on the network
(reachable from local system) and have static IP or be configured with
DHCP.
- An http daemon, service or IDS (Intrusion
Detection System) running in the local system may interfere with HP SUM
connecting to remote hosts, hence these services may need to be disabled
when HP SUM is running.
- Refer
to the HP Smart Update Manager 7.5.1 User Guide and Release Notes for any
prerequisites required for HP SUM.
For latest dependencies on SAS IO, LOM, OA
and VC, refer to this matrix:

KNOWN FIRMWARE ISSUES:
SFW (HPE
Integrity BL8x0c i2 and i4 servers):
- DDDC (Double Device Data Correction) will
not be invoked for a second DRAM failure in certain cases when excessive
single bit memory errors are observed. This will be indicated by a WBEM
Event 7000. There is no impact to customer applications however it is
recommended to service the DIMM upon seeing this event as the server will
stop correcting single bits memory errors if one more DRAM in the same
rank fails.
iLO (HPE Integrity
BL8x0c i2 and i4 servers):
- Java based Virtual Media Applet and Java
based Remote Serial Console applet will not be launched on clients
running Java 7 update 51 (see advisory c04089818).
KNOWN FIRMWARE UPDATE
ISSUES:
- Bl8x0c i2 systems updating from firmware
version 21.08 or earlier (iLO version 1.30.30 or earlier) to version
26.41 (2014.09) will encounter the error “This package is not
supported for this hardware”.
Workaround: Update
first to 26.36 (iLO version 1.55.02) before updating to 26.41 (2014.09).
- During firmware installation using HP SUM
7.5.1, at the end of deployment, the system may power off instead of
rebooting, even though "Always" was selected as reboot option.
Workaround: If the system remains in power off state after
deployment completes, you may need to restart it manually. Note:
The new firmware should have installed correctly. This will be fixed in a
future version of HP SUM.
- Refer to the HP SUM 7.5.1 Release notes for complete list of
known HP SUM installation issues.
KNOWN I/O FIRMWARE
ISSUES:
- Online firmware update may fail for newer
Qlogic 8 GB FC cards with the error: "Error: ROM programming was unsuccessful".
Workaround: HPE recommends updating these FC cards using the EFI
bundle instead. The EFI bundle is available at http://www.hpe.com/support/hpesc; enter
the card product name, select the Operating System “OS Independent”, then
category "EFI".
Note: This issue exists in driver version FibrChanl-01
B.11.31.1503 or earlier and is fixed in driver version FibrChanl-01
B.11.31.1506.

Fixes in BL8x0c i2 firmware version 26.41:
FPGA 2.05:
- In rare occasions,
when trying to power on a blade on an HP Integrity BL8x0c i2 server in
multi-blade configuration, with all blade enclosures powered off (AC on/DC
off), the blade may fail to power on. This is now fixed.
iLO 1.56.02:
- Fixed SSL/TLS MITM
vulnerability (CVE-2014-0224).
- Fixed an issue
where a Telnet session to iLO would sometimes hang during an operation
such as FPL dump where a continuous stream of data is being sent by
iLO to the client. System and iLO would however continue to function
normally.
SFW 1.97:
- Fixed an issue
where a server with a controller configured in HBA mode would sometimes
hang at boot time without any error messages if a Hard Disk configured for
RAID mode was put into the server without previously removing the Hard
Disk's RAID metadata.
- Boot from boot
manager may no longer fail after a VC profile has been unassigned and
reassigned.
- A server
containing a PCI card which does not support PCI extended
capability would sometimes hang without any error message while
handling an MCA. This issue is now fixed.
- Fixed an issue
where, on rare occasions, the following series of events would be seen in
the SEL (System Event Log) during POST (Power-On Self-Test): a
MEM_MEM_TEST_FAILED level 3 event, a SYSTEM_SOFT_RESET, an
EFI_LAUNCH_BOOT_MANAGER. These errors did not reflect a real
hardware failure if the MEM_MEM_TEST_FAILED and soft reset
incident were not accompanied by an MCA or other errors.
Fixes in IO components included in this bundle:
Fixes in Qlogic Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters firmware
version 2014.02.14:

2 Platform multi-function mode.
Fixes in SAS FW 6.42:
- Resolved an
issue where, after doing a mode toggle at EFI ORCA, the controller name
would not be displayed when running the command: “reconnect -r”
- Added a new POST
message 1813 to indicate bad or failed battery charge circuit
- No longer
display a POST error message 1805 “Cache Module Super--Cap is not
installed” when the controller is configured to work without
super-capacitors
Fixes in Emulex Adapters firmware version 2013.05.02:
- Firmware
4.2.401.2212 (from 4.1.450.14):
- Critical: As the result of
auto negotiation failure, the connection between LOM and ProCurve 6120XG
may link up at 1Gbps instead of 10Gbps. This occurs intermittently (as
often as once in 10 retries) after executing "Reset Server blade
#" from the OA CLI. Affected Products: All BE3 based Cards and LOMs.
This is also seen with 10G passthrough Interconnect module.
- Boot
failure might be seen after running commands "reconnect -r",
"map -r" commands at EFi environment.
- Boot
from SAN intermittently fails during EFI bootstrap of a FCoE device that
is busy.
- FCOE
EFI version truncated in VPD data that is displayed by ODE-FCFUPDATE tool
at EFI.
- On
HP-UX the fcoc port driver state is displayed as AUTHENTICATION/DISCOVERY
when fcocutil command is run to check the port information
- NIC
EFI driver 2.22.a1 (from 2.21.ac):
- Reset
to Defaults restores wrong power configuration. Reset to Default is issued
from Device Manager->Emulex 10G NIC-> R/r or Erase Configuration;
Symptom: Restoring the defaults shows an HP unsupported option:
MultiChannel Option

FIXES:
Virtual Connect fixes in
VC 4.10(b):
- OpenSSL used by
VC was modified to address vulnerability to CVE-2012-2110 and
CVE-2012-2131
Onboard Administrator fixes in OA 4.12:
- Fixed an issue
where, on rare occasions, a SSH session to iLO from OA,
established within a few minutes of an iLO reboot using the
‘connect server’ command, would get disconnected unexpectedly. Connection
could be re-established to resume normal operation.
- Disabled support
for OpenSSL TLS heartbeat extension (CVE-2014-0160).
See HPSBMU02994 for more
details.
Bundle Version: 7.2.0.1:
ENHANCEMENTS
UEFI Driver 5.2.59 (from 5.2.58)
for embedded LOM, NC532m:
- Added
Dynamic Network detection support
FIXES:
iLO 01.61.04 (BL8x0c i4 43.01) and
iLO 1.55.02 (BL8x0c i2 26.36):
- Fixed
a security vulnerability issue that exists in HP Integrated Lights-Out
(iLO 3) version 1.60.07 for BL8x0c i4 and versions 1.53.02 and lower for
BL8x0c i2. The vulnerability could be remotely exploited resulting in
disclosure of information. See SSRT100934 for more details.
- When
the serial port MUX is set to “Persistent AUX” mode and the server is A/C
power cycled, the serial port MUX will retain the “persistent AUX” mode
setting and will not reset to “iLO” mode.
- The
severity of the events “VOLTAGE_FAULT and VOLTAGE_LOW_CRITICAL” have
been increased so that power supply events in SFM such as
"power supply failed or disconnected" and "power
supply AC lost" will now be reported in HP-UX syslog for easier
monitoring.
- Fixed
an issue where an idle SSH session to iLO3 from a PUTTY client may freeze
or may get disconnected with an error message “Incoming packet was garbled
on decryption”.
- SSH
connection to iLO from an OpenSSH 5.9 client will now work even when a
reduced list of key-exchange algorithm is not indicated.
Other issues fixed in iLO 1.55.02
(BL8x0c i2 26.36):
- IPMI
chassis status now properly reflects the sensor status when cover is off
or after a fan failure
- MP-iLO’s
15 minute auto-logoff no longer truncates a V-media created ISO Image
Fixes in SFW 1.95 (BL8x0c i2 26.36):
- Fixed
a very rare issue where a system running HP-UX might appear hung for 12
seconds or a clustered system might crash or reset if the heartbeat timer
was set to a value lower than 12 seconds.
- Fixed
an issue where a failed CPU socket would not get de-configured, causing
the system to hang and not boot to EFI shell, or to continuously reboot,
with the error "BOOT_CPU_LATE_SELF_TEST_FAIL".
Boot Code 6.2.25 (from 6.2.21) for embedded LOM, NC532m:
- In
some cases, only 2 PCI functions are exposed in multi-function mode.
LPe1205 HBA FW version 2.02x2 (from
2.00a4):
- I/O
“illegal frames received” errors may be reported intermittently by
FC disks linked through an 8Gb Hp/Emulex FC card if a disk reset is
performed
during heavy I/O load.
