The following enhancements are part of SR 2015.07.5:
For the systems that have v3.03.0a and v4.00.0a, the pool options are provided based on the rule file used in v4.00.0a. For the systems that have v4.02.0a and v4.03.0a, the pool options are provided based on the rule file used in v4.03.0a. This is to avoid any conflict that might occur with pool operations performed on an existing pool (before installing the SR) that might have a different spare configuration in the latest rule file.
This service release also resolves the issue of Microsoft Windows Security Software Protection Platform (SPP) service events every two minutes in the Windows Application Event log while running Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 on HP StoreEasy Storage Systems.
These events are reported when the HP StoreEasy Dashboard application initiates the operating system license verification every time the application performs a health check. By default, this happens every two minutes. The messages that appear are warnings and do not affect system operations. With the updated HP StoreEasy Dashboard, the application checks the license only when you restart the system.
To determine if you must install the service release, you must verify the HP System Installation and Recovery version that is running on the HP StoreEasy Storage. To determine the HP System Installation and Recovery version, click Server Manager → Tools → HP StoreEasy and click Manage Storage Pools.
This service release version is applicable for HP StoreEasy products listed in the Product models section.
An HP System Installation and Recovery version that is less than the version listed in the Description section indicates that you are running an older version of the HP StoreEasy Storage software. HP recommends that you upgrade to the latest version.
To determine the current service release version for HP StoreEasy 3000 and 3PAR StoreServ File Controller:
A service release that is less than the version listed in the output indicates you are running an older version of the StoreEasy software. HP recommends that you upgrade to the latest version.
TIP: You can also use the Pool Manager or System Dashboard to determine the current version of the service release. Pool Manager is available on HP StoreEasy 1000 and 5000 Storages, and System Dashboard is available on HP StoreEasy 1000, 3000, and 3PAR StoreServ File Controller.
Instructions for installing the storage system are provided in the Quick Start Guide of your product.
Before installing the service release, make sure that the system drive on which you install the service release has a minimum 5 GB of available space to accommodate the upgrade. The specific amount of disk space required depends on the components that you select for installation.
NOTE:
| |
Go to http://www.hp.com/go/support.
Enter your product name or model number (for example, HP StoreEasy 1000 Storage, HP StoreEasy 3000 Storage, HP StoreEasy 5000 Storage, or HP 3PAR StoreServ File Controller v2) in Enter a product name or number and click Go.
Select your model, select the operating system, and then select the service release.
Download the Service Release package to a temporary folder on your system.
Run the Service Release package on the StoreEasy system and follow the prompts on the service release installation window. Run the service release installer until the required components are installed.
Accept the EULA (End-User License Agreement).
NOTE: The EULA appears twice before the installation starts. Therefore, you must accept the EULA twice for the installation to start.
You may choose to unselect some components. However, HP strongly recommends that all components be installed.
After installing the selected components, reboot the system.
IMPORTANT: Some updates depend on other updates being installed first. Therefore, it is necessary to run the service release, reboot the system, and then run the service release a second time.
This Service Release includes updates and security patches available on Windows update from March 2015 to June 2015.
The service release GUI does not display the text for hotfixes, Windows updates, and security updates that are available on the Microsoft website. Only generic messages are displayed for these updates.
Pool Manager does not support conversion of spare drives to data drives.
Go to HP Smart Storage Administrator (HP SSA) and remove the spare drive from the pool and assign it as a data drive.
