Description
These release notes describe disk enclosure firmware version 5.04 for HPE D3000 disk enclosures.
The Smart Component that is used to install the firmware has its own version. There are 5.04, 5.04(A), and 5.04(B) versions of the Smart Component available. The Smart Component version change was done for compatibility with newer host OS versions. All contain the same 5.04 version of disk enclosure firmware. If you have already installed Smart Component 5.04, it is not necessary to install 5.04(A), or 5.04(B). If you do need to upgrade, you should use the latest Smart Component available.

Fixes
The
Enabled-ClusterS2D
command now completes successfully when executed on a SATA drive within a D3610 disk enclosure for a NonStop solution. The smart carrier, which is the drive case for SAS drives, now authenticates in the D3610/D3710 drive enclosure.
Added new 7-segment error codes E0 and E1 to report issues with power supply modules 1 and 2, respectively. These new codes only apply to the D3610/D3710 and only display when running firmware 5.04.
If the storage enclosure processor within the I/O module fails, a hard reset (power down and then power up) is executed to ensure the processor comes back online.
Installation guidelines
Only perform firmware updates during a system maintenance window, with all I/O to the system halted.
In a single domain configuration, updating the I/O modules under certain circumstances causes the update to fail. Specifically, if you host an OS on the disk enclosure (or any storage device). This issue occurs because the Smart Component resets the I/O modules after every update attempt.
NOTE:The I/O modules in the disk enclosures are also called Storage Enclosure Processors (SEPs).
In disk enclosures with dual I/O modules, the same firmware version must be installed on both I/O modules. Running different firmware versions may cause unexpected results.
Do not power-cycle or restart the enclosure during the firmware update. Doing so can cause functionality loss on the enclosure. It typically takes several minutes for the firmware to load.
Firmware update progress messages are logged to:
<systemdrive>\CPQSYSTEM\Log\D3000.log
(Windows)/var/cpq/D3000.log
(VMware, Linux)
The update summary is logged to:
<systemdrive>\CPQSYSTEM\Log\cpqsetup.log
(Windows)/var/cpq/Component.log
(VMware, Linux)

Firmware installation using Integrated Smart Update Tools (iSUT)
For ProLiant Gen10 servers, you can use iSUT through iLO 5 to deploy firmware updates. For more information and installation instructions, see the Integrated Smart Update Tools 2.3.x for Windows, Linux, and VMware User Guide available at: http://www.hpe.com/info/sut-docs.
Once iSUT is installed, firmware updates are deployed according to the iSUT operating mode you configure during installation. For more information about how firmware updates are deployed with iSUT, see the Smart Update Manager User Guide available at: https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=a00047899en_us.
