Description
These release notes describe disk enclosure firmware version 4.04 for HPE D3000 disk enclosures.
The Smart Component that is used to install the firmware has its own version. There are 4.04, 4.04(A) and 4.04(B) versions of the Smart Component available. All contain the same 4.04 version of disk enclosure firmware. If you have already installed Smart Component 4.04, it is not necessary to install 4.04(A) or 4.04(B).

Installation guidelines
-
Only perform firmware updates during a system maintenance window, with all I/O to the system halted.
-
In a single domain configuration, updating the I/O modules under certain circumstances causes the update to fail. Specifically, if you host an OS on the disk enclosure (or any storage device). This issue occurs because the Smart Component resets the I/O modules after every update attempt.
NOTE:The I/O modules in the disk enclosures are also called Storage Enclosure Processors (SEPs).
-
In disk enclosures with dual I/O modules, the same firmware version must be installed on both I/O modules. Running different firmware versions may cause unexpected results.
-
Do not power-cycle or restart the enclosure during the firmware update. Doing so can cause functionality loss on the enclosure. It typically takes several minutes for the firmware to load.
