HP System Dashboard is a management software that enables you to view information about the HP StoreEasy 1000 Storage, such as resource utilization, system health, storage configuration, and network configuration. HP System Dashboard contains the following tabs that allow you to view the current system state and utilization:
Overview—Displays system health, system utilization summary, and system properties.
Health—Displays alert messages and Windows event logs.
Storage—Displays storage overview, drives, volumes, and shares.
Network—Displays network overview, details of interfaces, teams, and VLANs.
System—Displays system overview, hardware, and software details.
IMPORTANT:
| |
Hardware failures are not displayed in the Event Logs tab of the Health page.
The Event Logs tab may not always display the hardware failures. This happens because the event log has data related to all the events. The Event Logs tab displays only a fixed number of events from the list of known events. Therefore, to view any hardware failures, see the Alerts tab in the Health page.
Changes made to the storage hardware is not reflected in dashboard Storage → Drives page.
Any change made to the storage hardware is reflected in the Storage → Drives page only when the SMP cache is refreshed. The default interval for the next discovery set in configuration file is 6 hours. However, you can view the updates in the Storage → Drives by executing the Update-StorageProviderCache -DiscoveryLevel Full –PassThru command.
If number of shares count is very high (for example, more than 250 or so), then it might take a long time to load and display the data in the Storage → Shares tab.
There is no known workaround for this.
If data is not displayed in HP System Dashboard or if one of the following error messages are displayed:
The service HP Network Discovery Service is currently not installed. Please refer to the troubleshooting section of the release note for more details.
The service HP Storage Discovery Service is currently not installed. Please refer to the troubleshooting section of the release note for more details.
The service HP System Health Discovery Service is currently not installed. Please refer to the troubleshooting section of the release note for more details.
Click Start → Control Panel → Uninstall a program and make sure that the following components are installed:
HP StoreEasy Data Service
HP StoreEasy Dashboard
HP Management Web Services
If any of these components are not installed, then re-install Service Release 2014.05.
If one of the following error messages is displayed on HP System Dashboard, run the services.msc command and start the stopped services listed in the error message:
The service HP Network Discovery Service is currently paused or stopped. Please refer to the troubleshooting section of the release note for more details.
The service HP Storage Discovery Service is currently paused or stopped. Please refer to the troubleshooting section of the release note for more details.
The service HP System Health Discovery Service is currently paused or stopped. Please refer to the troubleshooting section of the release note for more details.
Storage Management Provider service is not running on the system.
If you use ACU (Array Configuration Utility) to create one or more pools and then use Pool Manager to grow a pool, Pool Manager may report that the operation failed even though it actually succeeded. This can occur if parity initialization is still in progress on the newly created pool. HP recommends that you use Pool Manager for all operations on storage pools.
If this occurs, refresh Pool Manager and verify the drive count on the pool. It is likely that the grow operation has succeeded despite the error report. Alternatively, you can retry the grow operation after parity initialization on the new pool is complete.
On the HP StoreEasy Storage 1000, if a LUN with a RAID level of 1, 0, or 1+0 is extended, the corresponding LUN transformation job is not displayed in the View Jobs tab of Pool Manager.
Launching Pool Manger using HTMLViewerWrapper takes more time than launching it using Internet Explorer.
The Internet Printing Client features are not installed by default with the operating system.
Use Windows Server Manager to manually install these features:
The time zone selected during the image process is not retained. The image process allows you to set the time zone; however, the time zone is always set to Pacific time when the operating system comes up for the first time.
When performing the system recovery process on an HP StoreEasy 1440 or 1540 system using an internal DVD drive, the process may fail.
In Windows Server Manager, the Repair Virtual Disk option is unavailable.
When a virtual disk fails, you cannot use the Repair Virtual Disk option in Windows Server Manager to fix it because the option is unavailable. Nor can you use the Repair-VirtualDisk cmdlet in Windows PowerShell. Instead, you may be able to use the Array Configuration Utility to repair a failed virtual disk, depending on the type of failure.
To determine if you must install the service release, you must verify the HP System Installation and Recovery version that is running on the HP StoreEasy Storage. To determine the HP System Installation and Recovery version, click Server Manager → Tools → HP StoreEasy and click Manage Storage Pools.
This service release version is applicable for HP StoreEasy 1000 system running HP System Installation and Recovery version 4.00.xa.xx.
