Enhancements

Fixes

The previous version of the I/O module firmware was causing false fan alerts to be generated intermittently. The alerts would indicate that there was a change in the status of the fan. The fix (updated I/O module firmware) eliminates these false alerts.

Workarounds

When upgrading firmware for hardware components, the upgrades are listed in the recommended order on the System Manager Firmware tab. However, if an error occurs for one of the components during the upgrade, the upgrade process stops (instead of skipping that component and upgrading the next one). Follow the instructions on the Firmware tab for any firmware that was not successfully upgraded and attempt to resolve the error. If you choose instead to continue upgrading the remaining components, ensure that you do not select the failed component and only select the remaining components that are listed after the failed component. Then click Apply to continue.

When upgrading the firmware for the D2600 enclosures, the following error message may display on the System Manager Firmware tab:

Flash failed for HP E5000 Expansion Node I/O Module using CAMSPR0147_6G_app_4MB.pmc. Check log file (C:\ProgramData\Hewlett-Packard\CMP\logs\firmware.log) for further information.

To resolve this issue, reboot the server and log in with local administrator credentials. Go to the Firmware tab on the System Manager. Select the D2600 firmware upgrade again; the remaining disk enclosures should be upgraded successfully.

When upgrading firmware for hardware components, the System Manager Firmware tab may display an error (error code 0x1A0E) for the NC532i. To resolve this issue, HP recommends that you apply the firmware update manually as follows:

  1. Reboot the server.

  2. Go to c:\ProgramData\Hewlett-Packard\CMP\Firmware.

  3. Locate smart component cp017424.exe and double-click it to start the installation. The firmware upgrade utility window appears.

  4. Accept the defaults or enter Y at each prompt to complete the upgrade.

Prerequisites

Your system must be running either 2.02.1b or 2.03.1a before upgrading to 2.03.1b.

Upgrading to Microsoft Exchange 2010 SP2

Installation considerations

  • You must be logged in as the local administrator to install the service release.

  • If UAC is enabled, the following message about the E5000 Configuration Wizard (hpconfigwiz.exe) will display after the first reboot that occurs in the service release installer process:

Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer?

To continue, enter the administrator password and click Yes.

  • When installing the JRE 6 component as part of the service release, the following security alert appears:

Revocation information for the security certificate for this site is not available. Do you want to proceed?

Click Yes to continue with the installation.

Installing the service release (no shutdown)

Installing the service release (shutdown required)

Follow this procedure to install the service release if Microsoft Exchange has been deployed in your configuration.

NOTE: This procedure requires all Exchange services to be shut down. Ensure that you schedule downtime to install the service release. HP recommends that you have a current backup of your Exchange databases and server prior to beginning the service release installation.

On Server 2:

  1. Log in as the local administrator.

  2. Back up the Exchange servers using your backup solution.

  3. Using the Exchange Management Console or Windows PowerShell, move all Exchange databases that are currently mounted on Server 2 to Server 1.

  4. Verify that the databases on Server 1 indicate that the copy status is “mounted” and the “is active” status is “true”. You can use the Windows PowerShell command get-mailboxdatabasecopystatus to verify.

  5. Verify that the databases on Server 2 indicate that the copy status is “healthy” and the “is active” status is “false”.

  6. If you are using public folders, dismount them before starting the upgrade.

  7. Download the service release file:

    1. Go to http://www.hp.com/go/support/.
