This package contains an operating system-specific set of optimized drivers and storage management software for the HP StorageWorks 2000 Modular Smart Array (MSA2000). This bundle of software has been tested and released for the MSA Software Support CD to ensure proper installation and functionality. This software bundle is built with the same technology as the HP ProLiant Support Pack (PSP), which uses HP SUM and HP software Smart Components.

MPIO DSM The MPIO DSM enables multipath support for the MSA 2000 family FC and SAS arrays on Windows Server 2003 ia64. iSCSI arrays, and all arrays attached to Windows Server 2008 ia64, are supported by Microsoft's native MPIO DSM instead and do not require the HP MPIO DSM.
CAPI Proxy The HP StorageWorks MSA2000 CAPI Proxy provides support for the MSA 2000 VDS and VSS hardware providers on Windows Server 2003 and 2008. It enables the VSS and VDS Hardware Providers to access the StorageWorks MSA2000 Family RAID storage subsystems using inband SCSI commands.
SES Driver The SES Driver implements a "null driver" for Windows Server 2003 ia64 which prevents unwanted "Found New Hardware" dialog boxes from being displayed. This driver is not required for Windows Server 2008 ia64 environments.
VDS Provider and iSCSI VDS Provider VDS hardware providers enable Windows Server 2003 applications such, as DISKRAID, Storage Managers for SAN, and Windows Server 2008 applications, such as Storage Explorer and DISKSHADOW, to manage the MSA2000 arrays. These hardware providers require the installation of the CAPI Proxy component.
VSS Provider The VSS Provider enables VSS client applications to perform snapshot operations on StorageWorks MSA2000 Family RAID storage subsystems.
Fibre Channel Adapter Kit for the Emulex Storport Driver This component contains version 5-2.01a4 of the Emulex Storport driver, which provides FC-HBA driver support for StorageWorks RAID Arrays.
Fibre Channel Adapter Kit for the Emulex Storport Driver and HBAnyware Utility This component contains version 6-2.10x1 of the Emulex Storport driver and version 4.0a32 HBAnyware utility for Extended Systems, which provide FC-HBA driver support for HP StorageWorks RAID Arrays.
HP StorageWorks Fibre Channel Adapter Kit for the QLogic Storport Driver This component contains the QLogic Storport driver for Extended Systems and provides FC-HBA driver support for StorageWorks RAID Arrays. The Windows x86 and x64 components contain version 9.1.7.17 of the QLogic Storeport driver. The Windows ia64 component contains version 9.1.7.29 of the QLogic Storeport driver, which supports both the standup and the mezzanine cards.
HP 4/8 Internal Port SAS HBA with RAID and SCxxG2 series HBA Driver This driver provides support for the HP Internal 4 Port SAS HBA with RAID, HP 8 Internal Port SAS/SATA HBA with RAID, and HP SCxxGe HBA series. Separate drivers are provided for Windows 2003 and Windows 2008.
HP NC31xx Fast Ethernet NIC Driver This package contains the driver for HP NC31xx Ethernet and Fast Ethernet NICs running under Microsoft Windows Server 2003. Supports the following HP Fast Ethernet NICs: NC3123, NC3134, NC3135, and NC3163.
HP NC-Series Intel Driver This package contains the driver for HP NC-Series Intel Gigabit Ethernet NICs running under Microsoft Windows Server 2003. Supports the following HP NC-Series Intel network adapters: NC6132, NC6136, NC6170, NC7131, NC7132, NC7170, NC310F, and NC340T.

The driver installation with this Smart Component requires a minimum Windows Server 2003 SP1, R2, or SP2 along with the Microsoft Storport update, KB932755. Apply the KB932755 update before installing or upgrading to this version of the miniport driver. For boot installations, Windows Server 2003 SP2 install image is required followed by the KB update.
The following service packs and hotfixes are required for Windows Server 2003:

This release can be installed directly on top of previous releases of the MSA2000 MPIO DSM as long as the previous release is 2.2 or higher. Do not attempt to remove MPIO first if the system is booting from an MPIO device.
The command line interface (CLI)
utility, dsmcli, can be invoked from the Windows Start menu or from C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP MPIO
DSM\MSA2000\dsmcli.exe to configure the DSM.
This release can be installed directly on top of previous releases as long as the previous release is 2.2 or higher.
Some HBA drivers may need to be reconfigured before they will pass more than 64 KB of data for a SCSI pass-through command. The CAPI Proxy requires that the HBA driver support transfers of up to 128 KB.
This package should be installed prior to installing the StorageWorks MSA2000 Family VDS or VSS Providers.
If DISKRAID.EXE exits abnormally, you must
terminate the processes VDS.EXE and DLLHOST.EXE hosting the VDS Provider manually
before you run DISKRAID.EXE again.
After a LUN is assigned to the host,
you may need to execute a rescan operation in Device Manager to view the
paths for the LUN in some commands, such as detail lun.
The following commands are not
supported: ADD, BREAK, OFFLINE, ONLINE, RESET, STANDBY, RECOVER, REPLACE.
The
create lun operation will
use an existing vdisk if the vdisk has enough free space to satisfy the
request.
This package installs the Microsoft MPIO DSM framework and as well as a Device-Specific Module (DSM) that provides support for StorageWorks MSA2000 Family devices.
On Windows Server 2003, the installation will install MPIO drivers if there are no MPIO drivers in the system, or if an older version of the MPIO drivers are currently installed.
You may need to reboot the system if prompted by the setup program.
If the host has installed MPIO DSMs from the other vendors, newer MPIO drivers may have been installed with these DSMs. The installer will check the Windows registry for a DWORD value named HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ —>Uninstall\{70C756EB-4FAC-480c-A800-02AA7AEBE12C}\AllowMpioDowngrade and if it is present and not 0, and there are existing MPIO drivers in the system, the installer will prompt the user to choose whether to overwrite the existing version of the Microsoft framework with the version which is included in this package. Otherwise, the installer would not prompt the user and will not overwrite Microsoft MPIO framework files which are the same or newer that the ones in this package.

NOTE: Overwriting MPIO drivers may fail in some cases. You may need to uninstall all MPIO DSMs, and install them again. | |
If you uninstall the HP StorageWorks MSA2000 Family MPIO DSM, the Microsoft MPIO drivers are not removed in case they may be needed by another DSM.
Following removal of the DSM, you will need to reboot the system.
To uninstall the SES Driver, use the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel applet.
This release can be installed directly on top of previous releases as long as the previous release is 2.2 or higher.
There are separate VDS Providers for iSCSI and non-iSCSI products. Verify that you have the correct package for your product.
This release can be installed directly on top of previous releases of the MSA2000 VDS provider as long as the previous release is 2.2 or higher.
Before installing this package, install the StorageWorks MSA2000 Family CAPI Proxy package. The VDS Provider does not function without the CAPI Proxy.
After the CAPI Proxy and VDS Provider are installed, no further configuration is required.
Setup instructions require a workaround in 64-bit Windows.

The software bundle is delivered as a self-extracting
executable. If you received it in this form, execute the file to extract the
bundle into a new folder. If you are using MPIO, before installing this bundle,
run the MPIO-DSM smart component included in this bundle in the extracted msa2000 subdirectory.

Run the setup.exe program included with the Software
Bundle.

The iSCSI VDS provider in 64-bit Windows will not install on Windows 2008 because it is not listed as a supported OS.
Workaround: Locate the appropriate iSCSI VDS provider in the
Software Bundle (cp011100.exe or cp011101.exe). Launch the Smart Component and
use the Extract option to extract the contents of the Smart Component to a
folder on the hard drive, then manually execute the SETUP.EXE located inside the
folder.
